Article Summary Draft 2 : District heating and cooling system

In the article "District heating and cooling systems," ENGIE (2013) discusses how the incorporation of renewables as sources to its heating and cooling systems has impacted the world. As stated in the article, ENGIE's mission is to provide comfort to users in commercial offices, industrial buildings, and public facilities while reducing carbon dioxide emissions. ENGIE states that they have been utilising renewables such as solar, geothermal, and biomass as their sources to generate heat. As a result, electricity consumption, carbon dioxide emission, and energy efficiency have improved. ENGIE also mentioned its goals to increase the use of renewables to 50 percent in all its networks from Europe. They have worked on several projects with the use of renewables over the past few decades. One to highlight is the Saint-Denis biomass heating plant where the majority of the energy utilised is from renewables today. (144 words) References: ENGIE. (2013, February 11) District he

Article Sumarry Draft 1 - ENGIE’s district heating and cooling system

In the article, “District heating and cooling systems'', ENGIE (2013) discusses the benefits of operating 320 urban heating and cooling network systems while simultaneously protecting the environment. ENGIE has been a major provider of urban cooling networks in Europe for 30 years. The article states that ENGIE has aimed to increase the usage of renewable sources to 50% in its European urban networks from 2018 onwards. Renewable sources such as solar and geothermal are being used for heat generation. A heating network has four main components which consist of heat-generating units, a heat exchanger, and a primary and a secondary pipeline. A cooling network provides cool air through chilled water and operates between two pipelines. The utilisation of the cooling network compared to a conventional air conditioning system will achieve greater energy efficiency, lesser water, electricity consumption, and will emit less carbon dioxide. Who is Saiful?

Subject: Self Introduction Dear Prof, I am writing this blog to you and I hope that you will know me better through reading this. I am a first-year undergraduate Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering (Building Services) student. Previously in 2019, I graduated with a Diploma in Clean Energy at Temasek polytechnic. My interest and passion in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, and Building Information Modelling (BIM) gave me the decision to pursue this degree and it developed as I want to provide the best comfort and performance for building users. My hobbies are dancing and playing the guitar. I have been doing those activities for some time and it has grown well in me. It helps me relieve stress and feel free during the moment. These hobbies have enhanced my ability to express my thoughts and emotions clearly and confidently through these forms of art. I really enjoy telling a story through music be it from my fingers on the guitar or by the movements of my body. B

“Critical Thinking: The Soul of Effective Communication” . My view on communication and critical thinking impacting my future role as a leader in the workplace.

Communication and critical thinking are essential and necessary in the workplace environment. As inferred from the excerpt, having poor communication would lead to poor employee engagement and attrition. I believe that having good communication would provide constructive exchange of ideas, thoughts and opinions which is an important attribute to have as a leader in a work environment. Audiences will pay attention and respect to one who has the attribute of good communication.  Critical thinking has a relation to good communication. Someone who adhere to critical thinking would impose intellectual standard to his thoughts and have it evaluated and sorted out before communicating it. This will show one’s great prominent traits which are highly respected of a leader. Someone who does not inculcate critical thinking may not possess intellectual traits. This will then lead to improper exchange of information and thoughts among employees due to the lack of respect or trust. In conclusion, I

It is indeed for a fact that we are undervalued because many people in general only look at things on the surface and are not aware of the thoughts and process of it however to say that we do not have the ability to explain what we do to people, for me I disagree although I understood why the statement was made as it was dated back in 2011. We are living in 2021 currently and there are several platforms and medium to explain what we do in general through visualisation and animations through youtube, Tiktok, etc.
